Danny O’Brien 2013 Season in Review; Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series Championship and Six Features Wins Highlight Terrific 2013 Campaign

After an unusually rough season in 2012 by Danny O’Brien’s standards, he returned to the track in 2013 looking to return to championship form. He is a 10 time Brockville Speedway champion, and he had his eyes on an unprecedented 11th title when the season started at the BOS in May.

O’Brien spent the first couple weeks of the season at Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario with mixed results. The two outings did give O’Brien a chance to get into the swing of things for Brockville. A DNF on opening night at the BOS was quickly forgotten when the posted their first victory of the year on week two.

June was a very productive month for O’Brien, posting another win, and three top five finishes in three events during the month. He also had a runner-up finish at Mohawk Raceway and Cornwall Speedway.

As the summer heated up, so did O’Brien, as he posted back to back feature wins at Brockville to start the month. A hard crash towards the end of the month set the team back some, but they regrouped and was a major factor going into the final month of the regular season as the points championship battle began to take shape.

With July ending with a couple of hard crashes, O’Brien found himself behind several points to the leader going into August. With two features wins, and a second place finish, over the final month, Danny gained back several points, but would end up second overall in track points. A win on the final night of the regular season did propel O’Brien to the inaugural Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series championship.

“It was a good year for us. I really have to thank everyone for their support over the season”, says O’Brien. “We came up just a little short in our quest for the championship, but we will be back next year as strong as ever”.

Plans for 2014 are still in the works at this time, but O’Brien does plan to race more often next season. He hopes to return to competing two nights a week, and perhaps competing in the full DIRTcar 358 Series if all goes well. The team is currently seeking sponsorship for the 2014 season. If you are interested in sponsoring one of the most accomplished racers in the Northeast, contact Danny O’Brien at dannyobrien17@hotmail.com.

“We definitely need to race more next season. It really is tough racing just one night a week. I have always felt that racing two or three nights a week is a huge benefit”.

Danny O’Brien would like to thank 1000 Islands RV Centre, Pat’s Rad, BOB FM, Ponte Bros. Masonry, Morrison Racing Engines, Snap-On Adam Way, Bicknell Racing Products, and Integra Racing Shocks for their continuous support and we look forward to a very exciting 2013 campaign.

Danny O’Brien Has Mixed Results in 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals Weekend at Brockville Speedway to Conclude 2013 Season

With six feature wins at Brockville Speedway in 2013, Danny O’Brien and his race team were looking forward to getting back to the BOS this weekend for the 2013 season finale 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals Weekend, and add another victory to his season totals as the track hosts some of the biggest starts in the sport from Ontario, Quebec, New York and New Jersey.

On Saturday afternoon, Danny timed fourth fastest in his time trial group, and started his heat race from the outside of row two in the fourth position. Over the course of the eight lap event, O’Brien moved to third place, securing a spot in the redraw for a top 12 starting position. Danny would start from the seventh position, and would quickly work his way into the top five. O’Brien would remain in the top five for most of the race, sitting in fifth as they reached lap 75, but tire wear was a concern in the closing laps, and Danny would suffer a flat tire late in the race, and would finish a disappointing 21st.

Sunday was a new day, and O’Brien was hoping for another solid day, this time against the Big Block Modifieds. Danny finished fourth in his qualifying heat race, locking into the 100 lap main event, but finishing just one spot out of a redraw position. Danny would start the race from 13th. It was a relatively uneventful day, and O’Brien would cross the finish line in 12th.

This concludes the 2013 racing season for Danny O’Brien and the 17D race team. Stay tuned to our website for any off-season news.

Danny O’Brien Scores Top 12 Results in DIRTcar 358 Series Races; Final Event of 2013 Coming up at Brockville Speedway This Weekend

Although Super DIRT Week primarily focuses on events at the New York State Fairgrounds, there are also satellite events at surrounding tracks and Danny O’Brien participated in the 358 DIRTcar Series events at Weedsport Speedway on Wednesday night and Brewerton Speedway on Thursday.

At Weedsport, O’Brien was second fastest overall in his time trial group, earning a front row starting spot for his qualifying heat race. After grabbing the heat race victory, O’Brien made the redraw for the 75 lap main event, and would draw the 10th starting spot. Danny was up to sixth late in the race, but fell to 10th as the final laps counted down.

The action moved to Brewerton Speedway on Thursday night, and once again, O’Brien was fast early in the night, setting fast time in his qualifying group. Danny backed that up with a heat race victory, and would redraw position number 7 for the 100 lap main event. Danny fired from inside of row four for the feature race, but the speed that was there earlier in the night wasn’t there, and the car fell back through the field to 14th by lap 32. O’Brien was able to move up to 12th before the checkered flag.

This coming weekend is the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals at Brockville Speedway. It will be the final event of the 2013 season for O’Brien and team. Friday night he will be on the track for timed hot laps, with the fast time earning a spot in Saturday’s 100 lap 358 Modified Series finale. Saturday afternoon will be the main event for the 358 Modifieds, and Sunday, O’Brien plans to qualify for the Big Block Modified main event.

Danny O’Brien Battles to an 11th Place Finish on Sunday Afternoon in DIRTcar Series Event at Mohawk International Raceway

After making the trip to Mohawk Raceway on Friday night, Danny O’Brien and his team were ready for two big nights of racing with the 358 Modified Super DIRTcar Series on Friday night, and they also planned to stock around on Saturday for the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series. Like many times this season however, Mother Nature interfered, and Friday night’s program was moved to Sunday.

O’Brien continued with his plans to run the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block event, and timed fifth fastest in his group, starting his qualifying heat race from that fifth position. Danny maintained that spot, locking himself into the 100 lap main event. Danny started the race from the 17th position but was unable to finish, wanting to conserve the car for the DIRTcar 358 Series race the next day.

A sixth place finish in his qualifying heat race on Saturday sent O’Brien to the last chance consolation race. Danny qualified into the 75 lap main event with a second place finish and would have to start from the 22nd starting position. Despite being marred deep in the field on a track that was very tough to pass on, O’Brien was able to move forward, and by the end of the race he was in 11th place.

“It was not the results we were looking for this weekend”, says O’Brien. “This track was very slick and very tough to pass on today. We did all we could, and now we will move on and get ready for next weekend”.

Danny and his team will be at Brighton Speedway on Saturday night as part of the annual Applefest Weekend. This race will also be part of the 358 Modified Mr. DIRTcar Series. Danny is currently eighth in the series point standings.

Danny O’Brien’s Night Ends Early at Autodrome Drummond After Strong Start; Mohawk International Raceway 358 Series Event Coming up Next

After ending the season at Brockville Speedway last week with six feature wins, Danny O’Brien and his team hit the road to Drummondville, Quebec for the next round of the 358 Modified Mr. DIRTcar Series. O’Brien has had success in the past at Drummond, winning a 358 Series race in 2005 and 2008, and also posting several top finishes over the years.

The night started out well for O’Brien, posting the fastest time in his group during time trials, and was second fastest overall. He started on the front row in his qualifying heat race, and was able to pick up the win, making the all-important redraw for a top ten starting spot in the 75 lap main event. Danny started inside the top five and had worked his way to third place after just three laps. He maintained a third place position through lap 22 and was running fourth on lap 27 when he was forced to the pits with a mechanical failure.

“We had a strong car, but were not able to get the finish to show for it”, says O’Brien after the race. “We will be back this weekend at Mohawk Raceway, hoping to get a solid finish. We will also be at Brighton Speedway on September 21st, and possibly a couple of the satellite shows at DIRT Week, before ending the season at the 1000 Islands RV Fall Nationals at Brockville next month”.

Danny O’Brien’s Sixth Win of the Season at Brockville Speedway Earns Him Inaugural Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Championship; Falls Just Short in Battle for 11th BOS Track Championship

Just a few short weeks ago, Danny O’Brien had back to back disappointing finishes, and it had looked like his quest for an unprecedented 11th career Brockville Speedway track championship was over. The team continued to battle back over the past few weeks, and the points deficit that once exceeded 35 points was now down to 20 going into the final points night of the season.

Saturday night’s event at Brockville Speedway was also the final round of the Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series, as well as final points night. Time trials set the field for the qualifying heats, and Danny timed second fastest in his group, earning a front row starting spot in his qualifier. He jumped out to the lead quickly, and went on to take the win. By virtue of winning the third qualifying heat, Danny started the 50 lap main event from the third position. He moved to second early in the race, and maintained that spot through the first half of the race. Once the halfway signal was given by the flagman, O’Brien turned it up a notch, and was the new race leader as they completed lap 26. Despite several cautions over the final few laps, O’Brien held off all challengers and scored his sixth win of the season at Brockville. The win earned O’Brien the Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series championship, but fell just seven points short in his quest for his 11th track championship.

“We did all we could at the end. We came here tonight to win the race and get as many points as we could, and we did that”, says O’Brien. “We just came up a few points shy at the end of the year. We had a solid season with six feature wins, and the Ogilvie’s championship, and we are proud of that”.

Danny O’Brien Ready to Battle for 2013 Brockville Championship Despite 20 Point Disadvantage Going Into Final Showdown This Weekend

There will be a lot on the line this coming weekend as Danny O’Brien returns to Brockville Speedway looking to overcome a 20 point disadvantage as he looks to claim his 11th Brockville Ontario Speedway track title. Without a doubt, O’Brien has been the most successful racer in the history of the Brockville track, and despite the points needed to complete a solid year that already consists of five feature wins. O’Brien will also race at Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night in the 125 lap Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified Series event which is also the finale for the Canadian Nationals Series.

This past Saturday night started off with the usual qualifying heat races and Danny charged to second place after starting at the rear of the field. The team began to tweak the car for the 30 lap main event, and Danny started from the outside of row number seven in the 14th starting position. Passing was at a premium all race long, but O’Brien was able to advance his position through the first half of the event, sitting in ninth place with 15 laps remaining. O’Brien climbed to sixth over the next few laps and maintained that spot through the finish of the race.

“We gained a few points tonight, but I would have liked to have finished higher”, say O’Brien after the race. “We have just one more points race left here, and it will take some luck to get the championship, but we will give it all we have and see where we are at after next week”.

This coming weekend, Danny will be back at Brockville for championship night on Saturday night. In addition to the regular weekly points on the line, the championship for the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series is also up for grabs and Danny is just four point out of the lead in the battle for the championship. O’Brien will also be in action on Sunday night at Cornwall Speedway for the finale in the Canadian Nationals Series.

Danny began the evening with a third place finish in his qualifying heat race after starting from sixth. After making some adjustments to the car, O’Brien hit the track for the 30 lap main event from the 16th starting position. Just six laps into the race Danny had moved into the seventh position, and by the halfway point of the race he was inside the top five. Over the final 10 laps, Danny found a fast lane on the outside of the track and drove to second place at the checkered flag.

“It was a pretty good night for us tonight”, says O’Brien after the race. “We really found something up top with a few laps to go. “Hopefully we can continue to post strong solid results over the next couple weeks and finish the year out strong”.

Danny O’Brien Returns to Brockville Speedway Victory Lane for the 5th Time in 2013 on Saturday Night After a Tough Two Week Stretch

The past two weeks at Brockville Speedway have been frustrating for Danny O’Brien and his team, getting caught up in incidents that purely were a result of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. O’Brien was back at Brockville on Saturday night, hoping his luck would turn, and get back to victory lane.

O’Brien started his qualifying heat race on the outside of the front row and quickly jumped out the lead. He held on for the win despite a last lap challenge, and after making some minor adjustments to the car, he was ready for the 30 lap main event. With the track handicapping based on finishes from the past three events, O’Brien had great third place starting position. He jumped to the lead with just three laps in the book and drove to victory for the fifth time this season.

“I really have to thank the crew and all of our sponsors”, says O’Brien from victory lane. “The past couple weeks have been really tough and we put a lot of hours into this car getting the car back together. I also want to thank the fans for their continued support, and hopefully we can have some more success over the final three races here for the regular season”.

This coming weekend, Danny will be back at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night and will return to the BOS on Saturday looking to post back to back victories. With just three points events left at Brockville, Danny is currently 3rd in points, just 33 points out of the lead in the battle for his 11th BOS track championship.

On Saturday afternoon, Danny and his team will have their car on display at 1000 Islands RV in Gananoque from 11am to 2pm. 1000 Islands RV is hosting their annual customer appreciation clearance sale, with live music, food and fun, as well as incredible deals on RVs, parts and accessories.

Danny O’Brien’s Top Five Run at Brockville Ends in Disaster on Final Lap at Brockville; O’Brien Brothers Honor Their Dad on Hall of Fame Night

It was a very special weekend for the O’Brien family as the father of Danny O’Brien and his brothers Pat and Tim watched their father, Pat O’Brien Sr. get inducted into the Brockville Speedway Hall of Fame on Saturday night. In a special tribute to their Dad, all three O’Brien brothers had a special tribute paint scheme, featuring the infamous number 8 that Pat Sr. had raced at Brockville, Cornwall and Kingston Speedway back in the day.

Danny’s night started off with a fifth place finish in his qualifying heat race after starting from seventh. He returned to the pit area for some adjustments on the car and were ready to hit the track for the 30 lap feature. Starting from the 13th position, O’Brien patiently worked his way forward at the drop of the green flag. As the race reached the halfway distance on lap 15, Danny was up to seventh place and moved up one more spot as they completed lap 20. A caution on lap 23 would have O’Brien fire from the sixth position, and had moved into the top five with just a couple laps remaining. As they crossed the finish line on lap 29 disaster struck as the leaders made contact sending one car spinning in front of the field leaving Danny with no place to go to avoid heavy contact. The car suffered heavy front end damage. The race never did resume for the final lap because of rain, and O’Brien was credited with a very disappointing 20th place finish.

Danny will be back at Brockville Speedway once again this Saturday night as he looks to get back to victory lane and close in on the point lead as we enter the final month of the 2013 regular season.

Danny O’Brien’s Three Race Win Streak Ends at the BOS After an Eighth Place Finish; Currently Second in Points as Championship Battle Heats Up

After winning the last three feature events at Brockville Speedway, Danny O’Brien and his team were looking forward to the opportunity to extend that streak as they look to narrow the 17 point deficit in the race for the Brockville Speedway track championship.

After a second place finish in the preliminary qualifying heat race, Danny lined up for the feature from deep in the field due to the track handicapping system based on performance from the past three races. The track surface was much different than a regular night with the sprint cars visiting, and it was difficult to pass. After climbing into the top ten late in the race, Danny battled to a disappointing eighth place result.

“It was pretty tough out there tonight. Nobody really did much passing”, explains O’Brien after the race. “We will be back here next week, and hopefully we can get back to where we were the past few weeks”.

Danny is currently second place in points at Brockville Speedway, and continues to trail by only 17 points in the battle for the coveted championship. He will return to Brockville again this Saturday night looking for another strong performance. Saturday night will also be a special night for the O’Brien family, as Pat O’Brien Sr. will be inducted into the Brockville Ontario Speedway Hall of Fame.

Danny O’Brien Claims Third Consecutive Brockville Speedway Feature Win and Fourth of the Season on Saturday Night

After winning the past two feature races at Brockville Speedway, Danny O’Brien and his 1000 Islands RV sponsored team were looking forward to returning to Brockville once again this week as they continue to close in on the points lead and eye an unprecedented 11th Brockville Speedway track championship.

It was a bit of a struggle early in the night at Brockville, finishing his qualifying heat race in the fourth position after starting fifth. Danny and his team made some adjustments to the car before the 30 lap feature, and hit the track from the 14th starting spot. By lap 10, Danny had patiently moved forward, riding in the eighth position. A caution on lap 12 regrouped the field, and Danny restarted from the sixth position. Over the next few laps he charged forward and was up to third as they hit lap 20. Just two laps later he was up to the second spot, and captured the lead on lap 25 and went on to win his third consecutive BOS victory and fourth of the season.

“I really have to thank the crew and all of our sponsors and fans”, says O’Brien from victory lane. “We have had a good season and are focused on running strong the rest of the season”.

Danny is currently second place in points at Brockville Speedway, and trails by only 17 points in the battle for the coveted championship. He will return to Brockville again this Saturday night looking for another strong performance. Saturday night is also driver autograph night, and Danny and his fellow drivers will be on the track at intermission to meet with the race fans.

Danny O’Brien Storms to Third Brockville Speedway Victory of the Season in 50 Lap Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series Event on Saturday Night

After getting rained out at Brockville Speedway last week, Danny O’Brien and his team were ready for battle this week with the second round of the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series race on Saturday night. With a third place finish in the first Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series race last week, Danny was looking for a solid run to bolster his chances of winning the inaugural championship.

The night started out with timed hot laps, with heat race starting positions determined by lap times. Danny posted the fasted time in his group, earning a front row starting spot for the preliminary heat race. O’Brien jumped to the lead early and never looked back, taking the checkered flag in the eight lap qualifier. He started the 50 lap feature from inside the second row in the third position and quickly moved to second place. The first caution came with just five laps in the books, and Danny used that to his advantage, taking the lead just two laps later. Danny had maintained the lead through heavy lapped traffic a caution came out on lap 37. O’Brien continued to lead the way through the remainder of the race to pick up his third win of the 2013 season.

“I really have to thank the crew and all the sponsors for their support. I also would like to thank all the fans for their continued support over the years”, says O’Brien from victory lane. “We have been running well and winning races, and hopefully we can keep that up throughout the season”.

This coming weekend Danny will be back at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night as he continues to close in on the points lead and challenge for his 11th Brockville Ontario Speedway track championship. He is currently second place in points, and only 24 points out of the lead.

Danny O’Brien Has Mixed Results After Busy Canada Day Weekend

Coming off his second win of the 2013 racing season at Brockville Speedway last week, Danny O’Brien and his team were looking forward to getting back to business this weekend with a full weekend of racing in store beginning with Brockville Speedway on Saturday night followed by a Canada Day Weekend double header at Cornwall Speedway featuring a 100 lap Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series race on Sunday and a 100 lap DIRTcar 358 Modified Series/Canadian Nationals Series event on Monday.

The forecast for Saturday varied throughout the day on Saturday, and it wasn’t really clear what we would have in store. The rain held off throughout the morning and early afternoon and it looked like it was going to be good for the evening. However, just after the opening practice session a heavy rain hit the track lasting several minutes and track officials were forced to cancel Saturday night’s racing at Brockville Speedway.

Cornwall Speedway was up next with a big Canada Day Weekend event planned. Sunday night was the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series race. Utilizing his 358 Modified against the more powerful big blocks put Danny at a bit of a disadvantage early in the night and that showed during the time trials as he posted the seventh fastest time in his group and would have to start his heat race from that position. With just five cars transferring from the heat race into the 100 lap feature, Danny came up just short and was relegated to the last chance qualifier. A second place finish locked him into one of the final starting spots for the main event. As the race progressed the dry and slick track became an advantage for the 358 Modifieds and O’Brien made steady progress. By lap 85 he had cracked the top 10 and moved up two more positions over the final 15 laps to score an eighth place finish.

The following day, Danny was back at Cornwall for another 100 lap feature for the 358 Modified DIRTcar Series/Canadian Nationals Series race. After posting the third fastest speed in his time trial group, Danny lined up for the heat race from third place and maintained that position throughout the eight lap race, locking himself into the 100 lap race. When the feature started, Danny fired from the 15th starting spot. With just 40 laps complete, Danny drove to the pits and was unable to continue the race.

This coming weekend Danny will be back at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night for round two of the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series with a 50 lap main event.

Danny O’Brien Returns to Brockville Speedway Victory Lane on Saturday Night; Scores Second Place Finishes at Mohawk and Cornwall

It was a busy weekend for Danny O’Brien and his race team, with rare appearances at Mohawk Raceway and Cornwall Speedway as well as the usual weekly visit to Brockville Speedway.

Mohawk Raceway was the first stop on the weekend schedule and after starting from the rear of the field in his qualifying heat race Danny moved up to the fourth position before the checkered flag. In the 25 lap main event, Danny rolled off the starting grid from the 13th position and quickly worked his way forward. At the halfway point of the race, Danny was inside the top five and continued to battle his way towards the front. Over the final few circuits, O’Brien made his way to second place and crossed the finish line in that position.

On Saturday night the O’Brien team returned to Brockville Speedway. They entered the night in third place in track points, and were looking for another solid run. After struggling in his qualifying heat race with a fourth place finish, he returned to the pit area and made some adjustments to the car, looking to dial it in for the 30 lap main event. He started from the eighth position and methodically worked his way toward the front of the field. Before the 10 lap mark, Danny was inside the top five, and continued to press forward. By lap 14 he made the pass for the lead, and never looked back, picking up his second win of the season at Brockville Speedway.

“I really have to thank all the crew and our sponsors for their support”, says O’Brien from victory lane. “We have been running well the past few weeks and hopefully we can continue that the rest of the season. I also want to thank the fans for sticking it out tonight despite the late afternoon rain”.

The O’Brien team traveled to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night looking for some track time before next weekend’s Canada Day 358 Modified Series race. Much like the previous two nights, Danny started from the back of his preliminary qualifying race, and moved to fifth before the end of the event. He started the 30 lap feature from 17th place but didn’t stay there long. He avoided disaster on a couple occasions, and with a fast racecar it only took O’Brien seven laps to make it into the top five. By lap 20 it had started raining, and the caution came out to stop the race. The rain continued to fall, forcing track officials to make the race official after completing more than half of the scheduled distance. O’Brien had made it to second place, and would finish in the runner up position for the second time on the weekend.

This coming weekend, Danny will be at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, before setting off for a busy Canada Day double header weekend. On Sunday it will be a 100 lap Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series race followed by a rare Monday event featuring the 358 Modified DIRTcar Series/Canadian Nationals event.

Danny O’Brien Posts Second Consecutive Top Five Finish at Brockville Speedway on Saturday Night; Advances to Third in BOS Point Standings

After a tough start to the season at Brockville on opening night just over a month ago, Danny O’Brien and his team have bounced back nicely, picking up a win, and some strong finishes over the next few weeks. O’Brien was hoping to continue that success as he returned to Brockville Speedway on Saturday night.

After a fourth place finish in his qualifying heat race, O’Brien and his team made some adjustments to the car before heading out for the 30 lap main event later in the evening. Rolling off the starting grid from the 12th position, O’Brien would quickly move forward and was in the top ten after just a couple laps. After 25 laps of uninterrupted green flag racing, O’Brien had charged up to sixth place. Once the race resumed, Danny continued to move forward and crossed the finish line with a solid fourth place finish.

“It was a good run tonight”, perhaps we could have had another yellow or two to get the field bunched together, but overall we are happy with it”, says O’Brien after the race. “I have to thank the crew for all the hard work that they put into this car, and all the fans for coming out and supporting us each week”.

This coming weekend, Danny will make a rare visit to Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night and will be back at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night looking to get back to victory lane and improve on his current third place position in the point standings at the BOS. 2013 Danny O’Brien t-shirts will be in stock this weekend, so stop by the Finish Line Web Design merchandise trailer located behind the main grandstand to purchase your apparel.

Danny O’Brien Gets Third Place Finish in Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series 50 Lap Main Event at Brockville Speedway on Saturday Night

For the second week in a row, weather issues were a major concern as Danny O’Brien and his team prepared for action at Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday night. Last week a heavy downpour made the decision easy to cancel the night’s program, but this week it was a miserable light rain that lasted a few minutes that made for a difficult decision. Once the rain stopped, the night’s action continued as planned and the first round of the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series resumed where it left off after time trials the previous week.

By time trialing fastest in his group before last weekend’s rain, Danny started from the front row in his qualifying heat race and finished the race in second place. In the 30 lap main event, he started from fifth place and remained in that position as he narrowly avoided disaster on lap six as several cars wrecked on the exit of turn four to bring out the red flag. By lap 15 he had advanced to third place, and that is where he would finish.

“It is always tough when the track conditions are like this”, says O’Brien after the race. “All the rain that we have had just makes the track extremely fast and rough, and its hard on equipment. We are happy to come out of here with a third place finish, and look forward to coming back here next week under better conditions”.

This coming weekend, Danny will be back in action at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night where he will be looking to get back to victory for the second time in 2013 and move up from his current fourth place position in track points.

Danny O’Brien Recovers From Early Race Incident to Score Sixth Place Finish at the BOS; Canadian Nationals Series at Cornwall Postponed Again

After earning his first win of the 2013 season at Brockville just a week ago, Danny O’Brien and his team were looking forward to going back to the track to try and make it two in a row. They also planned to attend the opening night at Cornwall Speedway after last weekend’s 100 lap Canadian Nationals Series race had been postponed.

O’Brien started his qualifying heat race from the fifth position and had advanced to third place before the end of the eight lap race. The team made a few adjustments to the car before the 30 lap main event, and Danny lined up from the 16th starting position. O’Brien made his way forward in the opening laps, climbing as high as 13th by lap seven, when he was involved in an incident in turn four. Danny was able to continue but would have to restart from the rear of the field. Now determined to salvage a good finish despite the rough start, he drove back up through the field and was inside the top 15 just four laps after the incident. As the race approached halfway, Danny had made his way inside the top ten, and continued to move forward as the final laps counted down. With the checkered flag in the air, O’Brien crossed the finish line with a sixth place finish.

“It was a good recovery after having to restart deep in the field”, says O’Brien. “We will continue to work hard, and hopefully we can get back to victory lane here soon. I have to thank the crew for all their hard work, and I also want to thank all the fans for sticking it out here on a cold night here at the track”.

Danny and his team had planned to return to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday after they had reschedule the 100 lap Canadian Nationals Series race from the previous week. Although the weather was beginning to clear in our area early Sunday morning, Cornwall was still getting hit with rain late morning, and with the rain from the previous day, the track was just in no shape for racing and were forced to postpone the event once again.

This coming weekend, Danny will be back in action at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night for the first round of the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series 50 lap main event, and also plans to make the trip to Cornwall Sunday as they make their third attempt at getting their season started with the 100 lap Canadian Nationals Series event.

Danny O’Brien Thrills Brockville Speedway Crowd With Exciting Win on Saturday Night; DIRTcar 358 Series Fills Victoria Day Weekend Schedule

It was a busy long weekend for Danny O’Brien and his team, as they had races scheduled at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night and Merrittville Speedway on Victoria Day Monday.

After a rough start to the season at Brockville the previous weekend, O’Brien was able to start of the front row in his qualifying heat race, and never looked back, taking the win easily. They made some minor adjustments to the car for the 30 lap feature to keep up with the changing track conditions. He started from the front row and jumped out to the early lead, and despite a few early cautions, including a multi car incident on lap four, O’Brien was able to hold off any challenges for the top spot and cruised to his first win of the 2013 season.

“After last weekend, we were all pretty discouraged. We went through this most of last year here, just being at the wrong place at the wrong time”, says O’Brien. “It is great to bounce back with a win, and hopefully we can build on this and come back next week even stronger”.

On Sunday afternoon, O’Brien made the trip to Cornwall Speedway for the first round of the Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified series. The race also doubled as the first of three events in the Canadian Nationals Series. A late afternoon rain forced track officials to cancel the night’s events, with an altered schedule now in place that will see the Canadian Nationals 100 lap race take place this Sunday, May 26th, with the DIRTcar Series race now postponed to August 4th to run in conjunction with the second Canadian Nationals Series race.

After an early exit from Cornwall after the rainout, Danny and the team made a quick stop back home to set the car up for the next event and they were off again to Thorold, Ontario for their Mr. DIRTcar Series race at Merrittville Speedway. He finished third in his qualifying heat race, locking himself into the redraw for a top 12 starting spot in the 100 lap main event. With a fifth place starting spot, Danny hit the track, hoping they had the magic setup for the tricky Merrittville track. It was soon evident that the car wasn’t where they needed it to be, and he struggled to a disappointing 15th place finish.

This coming weekend, Danny will be back in action at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, and off to Cornwall Sunday as they attempt to get in their season opener once again, consisting of the 100 lap Canadian Nationals Series race.

Danny O’Brien Ready to Start 2013 Season at Brockville Speedway on Saturday Night; 10 Time BOS Champion Looking to Capture Number 11

After two weeks of traveling to Merrittville Speedway, near St. Catherines, Ontario, Danny O’Brien and his team will be closer to home this weekend as Brockville Ontario Speedway opens for their first race 2013 season.

O’Brien, a 10 time champion at Brockville Speedway will be looking to re-capture the title this season, leaving a disappointing 2012 season behind him. Although he had two feature wins at Brockville, the rest of the season was full of situations that were a result of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

“Last season was pretty frustrating for all of us”, says O’Brien. “We had fast cars all season, but several times we had we either be in a wreck, or have some other issue on the track, and we didn’t get the finish to show how good we really were. We have worked hard over the winter, and we hope to get back on top when the season comes to an end in late August”.

After the BOS opener this weekend, O’Brien will have his first full weekend of the season the following week, with a regular night at the BOS, followed by Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified Series events at Cornwall Speedway and Merrittville Speedway on Victoria Day Weekend.

Danny O’Brien Starts the 2013 Season With Top 10 Finish at Merrittville Speedway; Will Return to Merrittville This Coming Saturday Night

After a long off-season, Danny O’Brien and his team were ready to get back to business this past weekend with a trip to Merrittville Speedway for their opening night Sprint Sizzler on Saturday night.

O’Brien has had some success at Merrittville in the past, always competitive in DIRTcar 358 Series events, and a past winner at Merrittville in 2011 early season events. O’Brien was fast right out of the trailer, setting the pace in opening hot laps. Although he struggled during his qualifying heat, Danny charged from his 19th starting spot to score a top 10 finish in the 35 lap main event. He crossed the finish line in eighth place.

“We struggled in the heat race, and started pretty far back, so it was a good run for us to get back up into the top ten”, claims O’Brien. “This is a tough track with some great competition, so we will take that for our first race of the year, and build on it when we get back here next weekend”.

O’Brien will return to Merrittville next weekend, looking to fine tune his car in preparation for the Mr. DIRTcar Series event at Merrittville on May 20th. O’Brien will race at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night’s beginning with their season opener on Saturday, May 11th.
